We all know that Sergey Brin's and Lawrence Page's revolutionary idea was to follow links via the inverse link matrix of the web. It is much easier to follow links directly from web node to web node. Page Rank has been termed the heart of the Google algorithm, but nobody knows how it is today. Persons participating in social networks and blogs know how easy it is to spam the Google SERP's and the Page Rank. If you have a large enough social network, you can penetrate the SERP's and get a decent page rank relatively soon.

This last post is interesting. To cite from the post:
"Dan mentioned that 'Pseudo Page rank' would be an 'in-site' page rank which was computed purely from the on-site factors. He also said that this new algorithm was not yet live".
Is that an indirect proof that Google has problems with the internal and external page rank?
Is it too easy to "social network" a site to the top of the SERP's and gain page rank to fast?
The post started with the following ingress:
"The Meet The Crawlers session included reps from the big 4 search engines (Ask is now as big as Live by many counts)."
Time for GYMA (A=Ask) where expert / OBL's carries higher weight? Time for analyzing content on a site by more advanced "text analyzing methods"?
In a related post, we see how Google's method of valuing sites via links, defines what is spam. It is part of their private (accepted web ?) definition of spam. Hidden links (links with the same colour as the background) is only a problem for the Index of a SE. It is no problem for a portal or a directory.
